Fire a support request to VMware. They consolidate deltas differently in 5.5, which are supposed to be more gentle to VMs. Your VM is too intensive on writes and consolidation process cannot keep up with the changes when -delta file grows faster than it can commit the changes to the base.
First off, perform not just delete these documents through the datastore browser- it will trigger massive headaches (namely, you'll be missing a load of information)
First point to perform is attempt to combine all these pictures, supplied you are operating esxi 5+, you'll end up being able to perform this mainly because just as selecting the vm óut of the shrub list, right clicking and selecting 'consolidate snapshots'
If you put on't possess this option, pick overview manager instead, and select 'delete all'- you'll be aware this is usually not the same at all as removing the files, as this will commit the delta files to the original VMDKs. It'h very misnamed, and really should become called 'commit', but héy.

Snapshot Consolidation problems (ESXi 5.5)
So I'd currently working into an problem with pictures that offers obtained me stumped thus considerably.
A few days ago we acquired an issue where the storage for a amount of VMs proceeded to go down quickly after nightly backups were finishing for one óf the VMs. ln fact, it been unsuccessful while it had been getting rid of the snapshot the backup system got for this specific VM.
The backup system attempted to remove the snapshot a several more moments and lastly succeeded after HA réstarted the VM somewhere else. The next night, it ran it's backups again, but this time after attempting to remove the pictures disk loan consolidation failed.
At this point, manual disk consolidation is usually screwing up in my vSphere Client regularly with: 'An érror occurred while consoIidating disks: 5 (input/output error)'
Looking at the vmware.journal for the VM, I notice this thrown at the exact same time as the over failure:
2015-06-11T18:20:46.349Z SnapshotVMXCombiner I120: OBJLIB-FILEBE : FileBEIoctl: ioctl operation neglected on '/vmfs/products/deltadisks/3555fd86-VMNAME1-000002-delta.vmdk' : Insight/output error (327682) 2015-06-11T18:20:46.350Z SnapshotVMXCombiner I120: DISKLIB-VMFSSPARSE : VmfsSparseExtentCombine: were unable: for 1 level and begin 164132 Input/output error. 2015-06-11T18:20:46.350Z SnapshotVMXCombiner I120: DISKLIB-CTK : Finish Blend 2015-06-11T18:20:46.353Z SnapshotVMXCombiner I120: DISKLIB-CTK : Trying unlink of (nuIl) 2015-06-11T18:20:46.353Z SnapshotVMXCombiner I120: SnapshotVMXCombineFinalCb: Done with blend of 2 hyperlinks, beginning from 1 in 2362133383 usec with error 0x50009: Input/output érror
l've noticed a few posts on the VMware towns talk about solving this by shutting down the VM, including an clean snapshot, then consolidating again, but I'm nervous to attempt that as others have got stated when they are in this state if they close down they can't start the VM once again.
Anyone ever run into an concern like this with consolidation?
